# NIKKI-HK complete project audit

**Audit date:** 2026-11-02
**Audited path:** `~/NIKKI-HK`
**Checkout:** branch `development`, commit `799f6ce`
**Mode:** source and configuration inspection only; original project not modified.

> Secret handling: credential values and Firebase configuration values are intentionally omitted. Firebase browser configuration is public client configuration, not a private server secret.

## Executive summary

NIKKI-HK is a branded static multi-page website with a small Express static server and browser-side Firebase Authentication/Firestore profile code. It is not currently an AI operating-system runtime. The server exposes one health route; chat calls a nonexistent route; a Python keyword prototype is loaded by a browser as JavaScript; and seven UIs import Brain modules absent from the checkout. Several pages present simulated voice, vision, or system status as if live.

The source checkout has **59 project-owned files in 3 source/resource folders**, plus installed dependencies and Git metadata. The audit identified **33 actionable findings**: 11 High, 16 Medium, 6 Low. Calling, messaging-service APIs, device control, local/cloud AI providers, NKS, and native clients are **absent planned capabilities**, not broken integrations that exist in this repository.

### Technology and observed runtime

- **Frontend:** 17 HTML files (16 product pages plus one Google site-verification file), 17 CSS files, 15 JavaScript files, and 3 PNG assets.
- **Backend:** Node.js ES modules, Express 5.2.1, CORS 2.8.6, dotenv 17.4.2. Current `server.js` serves the project root and implements only `GET /api/health`.
- **Identity/data:** Firebase JS SDK is imported from Google CDN in the browser. Auth flows and a Firestore `users/{uid}` profile document are implemented in source. No Firebase deployment/rules files are checked in.
- **AI:** no executable provider adapter or chat API. The `providers/` directory is empty.
- **Persistence:** profile documents use Firestore; Tasks/Goals arrays are transient; Memory/Settings imports target missing modules.
- **Dependencies:** `package.json` has no start/test/lint/build scripts. `.env` is ignored but absent at audit time. The dated server backup is untracked in Git and included in this read-only review.

## Complete project structure

All 59 non-dependency files are listed below. Individual source files in `node_modules/` and Git object database are third-party/repository internals rather than project-authored code; their role is summarized after the tree.

Folders: `Global/` (shared CSS/JS), `assets/` (three PNGs), and empty `providers/`. `.git/` contains repository metadata; `node_modules/` contains installed dependencies (~4.5 MB). The audit inventoried project-owned files and summarized vendor/Git internals rather than treating them as authored source.

### Project/dependency metadata

- `package.json`: ESM project with direct dependencies only; no scripts. Installed versions: express 5.2.1, cors 2.8.6, dotenv 17.4.2.
- `package-lock.json`: npm lockfile v3.
- `.gitignore`: excludes `.env` and `node_modules/`. No `.env` file was present.
- No README, tests, CI workflow, bundler, linter, Firebase CLI config, Firestore rules/indexes, schema/migration, provider configuration, or deployment manifest is present in the original checkout.
- Git status showed `server.js.backup-20261022` as untracked. This report describes branch `development` at the recorded commit, not every historic branch.

## Feature status

| Feature | Status | Classification | Audit evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Partial | Implemented, environment-dependent | Email/password, Google popup, password reset and Firebase auth-state guards are coded in Script.js, Dashboard.js, Chat.js and Profile.js. Firebase Console settings were not externally checked. |
| Firestore profile | Partial | Implemented, narrow scope | Registration and Google sign-in write users/{uid}; Dashboard/Profile read it. No tasks, goals, chat, memory or settings collections are connected. |
| Dashboard and navigation | Partial | Implemented with defects | Dashboard profile display and sidebar navigation exist. Some page links are case-sensitive broken; handlers are registered twice for shared items; status claims are hard-coded. |
| AI conversation | Broken | Code defect | Chat.js POSTs to localhost:3000/api/chat. server.js has no POST chat route or provider; failure is only logged, leaving no assistant error state. |
| Brain | Demo / disconnected | Prototype code only | Brain.js contains Python keyword matching but HTML loads it as a JavaScript module. It is not a backend service; all decisions are marked APPROVED. BRAIN_AUDIT.txt is a dump, not modules on disk. |
| Memory | Blocked | Code defect | MemoryUI.js imports absent Brain/Memory.js. If restored, user data is inserted through innerHTML; “today” count equals total; import clears data before validating the file. |
| Tasks | Blocked / partial UI logic | Code defect | TasksUI.js imports absent Brain/TaskQueue.js. Tasks are in-memory only; completion UI has task history but no persistence or scheduling. |
| Goals | Blocked / partial UI logic | Code defect | GoalsUI.js imports absent Brain/GoalManager.js. Goals are in-memory only; “today” and priority views are not modeled reliably. |
| Voice | Demo only | Misleading status | Start listening does not invoke speech recognition. Fixed test phrase uses browser speech synthesis; fabricated success and random latency are recorded. |
| Vision | Partial demo | Real camera + simulated analysis | getUserMedia camera preview is real if browser permission succeeds. Scan invents random objects/faces/colors and fixed OCR text. |
| System status | Demo only | Fabricated telemetry | SystemUI imports absent Brain/System.js. It reports fixed module counts and random CPU/RAM, with diagnostics that print canned OK results. |
| Settings | Blocked / partial | Code defect | SettingsUI imports absent Brain/Settings.js. Several controls have no listeners, duplicate IDs exist, and backup/update controls are placeholders. |
| Calling | Not implemented | Planned integration | No contacts, telephony adapter, call permission, call state, or call history code exists. |
| SMS / WhatsApp / Telegram | Not implemented | Planned integration | No message composer API, provider adapter, inbox, delivery state or connected-service flow exists. |
| Device/app control | Not implemented | Planned integration | No platform bridge, execution allowlist, permission gate or browser automation adapter exists. |
| Web search / retrieval | Not implemented | Planned integration | No search route/provider. Historical APIManager text in BRAIN_AUDIT.txt is not present as an importable file. |
| Multi-platform / NKS / local models | Future scope | Planned | No Android, desktop, dedicated hardware, NKS runtime, local model, offline inference, or hybrid provider implementation found. |
| Privacy / legal pages | Present, claims exceed implementation | Needs review | Privacy and terms pages claim AI/data practices that are not backed by the current code. These should be reconciled to actual operations before release. |

## Missing modules and broken imports

These imports resolve to no files in the checkout and prevent their UI module from evaluating:

| Importing UI | Missing imported file | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| `MemoryUI.js` | `Brain/Memory.js` | Memory UI module fails at load. |
| `TasksUI.js` | `Brain/TaskQueue.js` | Tasks UI module fails at load. |
| `GoalsUI.js` | `Brain/GoalManager.js` | Goals UI module fails at load. |
| `SettingsUI.js` | `Brain/Settings.js` | Settings UI module fails at load. |
| `VoiceUI.js` | `Brain/Voice.js` | Voice UI module fails at load. |
| `VisionUI.js` | `Brain/Vision.js` | Vision UI module fails at load. |
| `SystemUI.js` | `Brain/System.js` | System UI module fails at load. |

`Brain.js` is present but is Python syntax (triple-quoted docstring and Python imports) while `Brain.html` loads it as a JavaScript module. Node syntax validation rejects it. The source describes keyword matching (open/play/search/chat), routes to labels, and sets every decision to APPROVED; it is neither a web service nor connected to the UI.

`BRAIN_AUDIT.txt` contains 40 concatenated historical module headings. It is an 89 KB text dump—not 40 files and not an importable module directory. The corresponding source modules are absent.

## Backend API and frontend findings

### Routes actually present

| Method | Path | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| GET | `/api/health` | Returns hard-coded system ONLINE and LLM NOT_CONNECTED fields. |
| Other API paths | — | No application API routes are defined. |

Chat sends a POST to `http://localhost:3000/api/chat`; no route handles it. Hard-coding localhost also makes a deployed/mobile browser target its own device. On failure, the UI logs to console and leaves the user without an error response.

### Broken paths and interactions
- A case-sensitive local asset check found **30 unresolved local references**: 22 references to lowercase `Global/global.css` or `Global/global.js` despite actual uppercase filenames; seven footer links to lowercase page filenames; and absent `assets/profile.png`.
- Chat attachment and microphone buttons have no listeners.
- Tasks/Goals “Add” controls have no listeners; separate Save controls work only within the blocked UI module.
- Profile Edit Profile is an alert placeholder. Settings Backup/Restore/Update/Save and several toggles are unhandled or mismatched. Duplicate IDs occur for `soundEffects` and `autoSync`.
- Dashboard repeats navigation handler registration for several IDs, which can cause duplicate redirects. Its console says authentication/navigation/Firebase are OK without verifying these claims.
- Profile Firestore fetch has no error boundary, so failures leave loading placeholders and may become unhandled rejections.

## Firebase, authentication and database review
- `Firebase.js` initializes Firebase browser SDK, Auth, and Firestore. Configuration values are omitted. Browser config is client-visible and is not a server secret; Firestore rules and provider/domain restrictions are the authorization boundary.
- Email/password registration/login, Google popup sign-in, password reset, sign-out, and local/session persistence selection are implemented in `Script.js`; Firebase Console configuration was not externally queried.
- Registration creates the Auth account before writing the profile document. A Firestore write failure leaves a valid signed-in account with no profile recovery path.
- Dashboard/Chat/Profile perform auth-state checks. Other feature pages do not visibly share an auth gate. Static client checks do not substitute for Firestore rules.
- Firestore usage is only profile creation/read; no chat, tasks, goals, memory, activity, or settings records are stored there. There is no local DB/schema/migration.
- No `firebase.json`, rules, indexes, emulator configuration or security tests are present, so deployed rules and data isolation remain unknown.

## Brain, voice, vision and operating-system capabilities
- **Brain:** incompatible runtime/file type; small keyword match only; all decisions labeled approved; disconnected. No contextual model, planning/reasoning pipeline, provider interface, policy engine, or action gate.
- **Voice:** Start Listening changes text/counter only. Test button speaks a fixed phrase using browser TTS, increments success, and generates random latency. No STT, wake word, command routing, multilingual speech config, or voice-call integration.
- **Vision:** getUserMedia preview attempts a real camera permission request. Scan invents random object/face/color values and fixed OCR text; no image/video model is used.
- **Calling/messaging:** no code or service adapters; no contact picker, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, call state, inbox, delivery status, or history integration. Planned capabilities.
- **Device control/automation:** no app/device bridge, permission layer, execution engine, scheduler, or authorized workflow route.
- **System screen:** hard-coded 40 modules, random CPU/RAM values, and canned diagnostics. It does not inspect host hardware or real services.

## Security, architecture, dependencies and operations
- User-controlled content is interpolated into `innerHTML` in Memory, Tasks, Goals, Voice, Vision and System UI code. If the screens become loadable, crafted content can execute in-origin markup/script: stored DOM XSS risk.
- Express uses unrestricted `cors()` and serves the repository root as static files. The dated untracked backup is at web root. Scope static serving to intended public assets and constrain origins if cross-origin APIs are added.
- Client-side Auth guards are inconsistent; server-side authorization relies on uninspected Firebase rules.
- Error handling sometimes surfaces raw provider messages. Profile reads lack visible failure UI. Memory import clears entries before validating backup schema.
- Privacy/Terms pages describe AI, security and data handling not substantiated by current executable AI code. Reconcile claims with Firebase/CDN/browser flows before release.
- Remote Google Fonts, Font Awesome and Firebase SDK make rendering/auth dependent on external hosts; no CSP or offline fallback is configured.
- CSS brace counts were balanced for all 17 stylesheets, but there is no CSS lint/build pipeline. Styles are split across shared and page-specific files.
- Dependencies are limited to Express, CORS and dotenv on the server; Firebase is imported via pinned CDN modules. No package scripts, tests, lint, CI, setup docs or automated broken-path/import check exist.

## Prioritized issue register

### 1. [High] Seven required Brain modules are absent

- **Files:** MemoryUI.js, TasksUI.js, GoalsUI.js, SettingsUI.js, VoiceUI.js, VisionUI.js, SystemUI.js; missing Brain/{Memory,TaskQueue,GoalManager,Settings,Voice,Vision,System}.js
- **Issue:** Each corresponding UI imports a path that does not exist in the checked-out tree. ES module loading fails before its page logic runs.
- **Why it matters:** Memory, tasks, goals, settings, voice, vision and system screens cannot initialize as written.
- **Recommended solution:** Restore real modules or replace each import with a maintained implementation; add import-resolution checks and page smoke tests.
- **Classification:** Defect · Module loading

### 2. [High] Brain.js is Python source loaded as JavaScript

- **Files:** Brain.js:1-20; Brain.html:317
- **Issue:** The file begins with Python triple-quoted text and Python imports, but Brain.html loads it with type="module" as browser JavaScript.
- **Why it matters:** The browser rejects the module with a syntax error. Its keyword classifier is disconnected from the web UI and cannot run in the current page.
- **Recommended solution:** Choose a runtime and file extension, expose a typed service boundary, and remove unconditional APPROVED decisions; keep execution behind a separate permission gate.
- **Classification:** Defect · Brain

### 3. [High] Chat calls an API route the server does not implement

- **Files:** Chat.js:59-107; server.js:16-26
- **Issue:** Chat POSTs to hard-coded http://localhost:3000/api/chat; the only API route is GET /api/health.
- **Why it matters:** Chat fails on deployed sites and on devices where localhost means the device itself. The catch only writes to console, so users see no response.
- **Recommended solution:** Add an explicitly configured provider-backed route or make the UI clearly report that chat is unavailable; use same-origin configuration and handle HTTP/error responses.
- **Classification:** Defect · Backend/API

### 4. [High] User-controlled content is inserted into HTML strings

- **Files:** MemoryUI.js:71-119; TasksUI.js:85-105; GoalsUI.js:95-115; VoiceUI.js:85-91; VisionUI.js:95-105; SystemUI.js:201-213
- **Issue:** Memory, task, goal or event content is interpolated into innerHTML without escaping.
- **Why it matters:** If these screens become loadable, crafted local content can inject markup or script into the origin. This is stored DOM XSS risk.
- **Recommended solution:** Render user values via textContent/createElement; sanitize only where rich text is intentionally allowed and add injection-focused checks.
- **Classification:** Defect · Security

### 5. [High] Task and goal records disappear on refresh

- **Files:** TasksUI.js:21,61-69; GoalsUI.js:21,71-79
- **Issue:** Both modules store all records in page-local arrays. Their imported queue/managers are only initialized and otherwise unused.
- **Why it matters:** Users lose created tasks/goals when the page reloads; no cross-device or account persistence exists.
- **Recommended solution:** Choose an explicit owner-scoped persistence model, validate records, and make clear/export/delete behavior consistent.
- **Classification:** Defect · Persistence

### 6. [High] Vision scan results are randomly fabricated

- **Files:** VisionUI.js:113-179
- **Issue:** Scan chooses random object/color/face values and a fixed “Demo OCR Result”, then displays them as detections.
- **Why it matters:** Users can mistake invented results for camera analysis. No vision model is called.
- **Recommended solution:** Label as non-analytical UI demo or connect a configured, consented model and show provenance/confidence.
- **Classification:** Defect · Vision

### 7. [High] System screen displays invented telemetry and diagnostics

- **Files:** SystemUI.js:37-49,105-143; System.html:44-86
- **Issue:** Module counts are fixed at 40, CPU/RAM are random, and diagnostic steps append canned OK messages.
- **Why it matters:** The screen falsely represents browser/device health and active NIKKI subsystems.
- **Recommended solution:** Remove the claims or display only observable browser/app capabilities with source and timestamp.
- **Classification:** Defect · System

### 8. [High] Voice controls do not perform speech recognition

- **Files:** VoiceUI.js:49-63,99-129
- **Issue:** Start increments a counter and changes text only. The test button speaks a fixed phrase and invents success and latency metrics.
- **Why it matters:** “Listening”, accuracy and response values are misleading; no spoken command reaches NIKKI.
- **Recommended solution:** Use feature-detected browser recognition with explicit permission or label the page as a static demo; remove simulated metrics.
- **Classification:** Defect · Voice

### 9. [High] Firebase authorization rules and deployment config are not in this repo

- **Files:** Firebase.js; missing firebase.json, firestore.rules, firestore.indexes.json
- **Issue:** Browser code accesses Authentication and Firestore directly, but no rules/config files are present to audit. The Firebase browser config itself is public client configuration, not a server secret.
- **Why it matters:** The checkout cannot establish whether users are isolated or unauthorized reads/writes are blocked. Auth UI alone is not data authorization.
- **Recommended solution:** Obtain and review deployed Firestore rules and Firebase Console settings; add versioned rules/configuration and emulator tests. Do not rely on hidden client config.
- **Classification:** Defect · Firebase/security

### 10. [High] Memory UI has no real persistence module in checkout

- **Files:** MemoryUI.js:1; missing Brain/Memory.js
- **Issue:** The imported store is missing. No backend memory collection or localStorage implementation is included in executable source.
- **Why it matters:** Memory operations cannot work on this branch; no retention/deletion guarantees can be verified.
- **Recommended solution:** Define data ownership, storage, export, deletion and retention first, then implement with tests and safe rendering.
- **Classification:** Defect · Persistence

### 11. [High] Shared Global asset references use wrong filename casing

- **Files:** About.html, Brain.html, Chat.html, Dashboard.html, Goals.html, Memory.html, Privacy.html, Profile.html, Settings.html, Tasks.html, Vision.html
- **Issue:** These files request Global/global.css and Global/global.js, but disk contains Global/Global.css and Global/Global.js.
- **Why it matters:** Requests fail on case-sensitive hosts, so shared styling/behaviors disappear. Local development on case-insensitive filesystems can mask it.
- **Recommended solution:** Make references match actual casing or rename consistently, and validate all local references on a case-sensitive filesystem.
- **Classification:** Defect · Assets and paths

### 12. [Medium] Profile picture references a missing image

- **Files:** Profile.html:47; assets/
- **Issue:** Profile.html requests assets/profile.png. The assets directory contains LOGO.png, Harsh.png and Kartik.png only.
- **Why it matters:** Profile avatar renders broken.
- **Recommended solution:** Provide a real default image or remove the image reference and use a generated initials fallback.
- **Classification:** Defect · Assets and paths

### 13. [Medium] Footer links use lowercase page names that do not exist

- **Files:** About.html:351; Privacy.html:254,262; Team.html:334,342; Terms.html:291,299
- **Issue:** Links point to dashboard.html, about.html and privacy.html while actual files are Dashboard.html, About.html and Privacy.html.
- **Why it matters:** Footer navigation fails on case-sensitive deployments.
- **Recommended solution:** Correct names to exact file casing and run the local link checker in CI.
- **Classification:** Defect · Navigation

### 14. [Medium] Attachment and microphone controls are inert

- **Files:** Chat.html:85-100; Chat.js:115-125
- **Issue:** attachBtn and voiceBtn appear in the chat composer but Chat.js binds only sendBtn and Enter.
- **Why it matters:** Users can click visible controls that have no effect.
- **Recommended solution:** Implement explicitly supported behavior or remove/disable controls with an unavailable explanation.
- **Classification:** Defect · Chat UI

### 15. [Medium] Add Task and Add Goal controls have no handlers

- **Files:** Tasks.html:98; TasksUI.js; Goals.html:100; GoalsUI.js:63-89
- **Issue:** The prominent add buttons are not wired; only the separate Save Task/Save Goal controls add records.
- **Why it matters:** The visible main action is a dead control and task creation is confusing.
- **Recommended solution:** Connect each primary button to the input/form or remove duplicate controls.
- **Classification:** Defect · Tasks and goals

### 16. [Medium] Memory import clears existing entries before validating the backup

- **Files:** MemoryUI.js:267-289
- **Issue:** The code parses JSON then clears current memory before verifying the value is an array of valid memory records. A later failure leaves prior data erased.
- **Why it matters:** Malformed or unexpected backups can destroy existing memory contents.
- **Recommended solution:** Validate schema and all entries before replacing existing data; preserve state on failed import and ask for confirmation.
- **Classification:** Defect · Memory

### 17. [Medium] Memory statistics and important-memory area are inaccurate/inactive

- **Files:** MemoryUI.js:33-48,51-58; Memory.html:100-130,180-205
- **Issue:** “Today’s Memories” is assigned the total count. importantMemoryList is always emptied but never populated. Storage bytes are a rough string length, not storage usage.
- **Why it matters:** Displayed totals do not represent their labels; empty/list state may be confusing.
- **Recommended solution:** Compute each metric from timestamps and actual storage; implement or remove the important category.
- **Classification:** Defect · Memory

### 18. [Medium] Settings contain duplicate IDs and unhandled visible controls

- **Files:** Settings.html:189-335,409-465; SettingsUI.js:1-259
- **Issue:** soundEffects and autoSync IDs repeat. Several first-section controls are never bound; restoreBtn, backupBtn, updateBtn, saveSettings, browserNotification, reminderAlerts, onlineMode and autoBackup do not have corresponding actions. The script also targets a missing module.
- **Why it matters:** Settings may change only one duplicate control or appear to save/backup when nothing is implemented.
- **Recommended solution:** Use unique IDs, bind every visible control once, validate persistence, and remove fake backup/restore/update states until implemented.
- **Classification:** Defect · Settings

### 19. [Medium] Account creation can succeed while profile creation fails

- **Files:** Script.js:119-139
- **Issue:** Firebase Auth creates the account before Firestore profile write. If setDoc fails, the function returns without recovery, compensation, or successful navigation; the auth session remains.
- **Why it matters:** The user has a valid account but incomplete app profile and receives a support message with no recovery route.
- **Recommended solution:** Make profile creation idempotent on auth-state entry or provide retry/repair flow and clear partial-success UI.
- **Classification:** Defect · Authentication

### 20. [Medium] Raw Firebase error text can be shown to users

- **Files:** Script.js:47-64
- **Issue:** Unknown errors fall back to error.message, potentially exposing low-level backend or configuration detail.
- **Why it matters:** Poor UX and unnecessary implementation detail disclosure.
- **Recommended solution:** Map error codes to safe user messages; log sanitized diagnostics separately.
- **Classification:** Defect · Authentication

### 21. [Medium] Privacy and terms claims are not aligned to executable services

- **Files:** Privacy.html:70-150; Terms.html:90-170
- **Issue:** Documents describe AI-powered services, account data handling and security practices while no AI backend or policy text/config is present to substantiate exact processing/retention.
- **Why it matters:** Users cannot make an informed privacy decision; published claims may be inaccurate.
- **Recommended solution:** Document actual Firebase data, browser storage, external CDNs, retention, contact and deletion behavior; review before release.
- **Classification:** Defect · Privacy/legal

### 22. [Medium] Static server exposes project source and an untracked backup

- **Files:** server.js:25-26; server.js.backup-20261022
- **Issue:** Express serves the entire repository directory as static files. The dated backup is at web root and is not excluded like dotfiles.
- **Why it matters:** Visitors can download internal source/old server code; the backup can drift from deployed behavior.
- **Recommended solution:** Serve only an explicit public directory and keep backups outside deploy roots; inventory public artifacts.
- **Classification:** Defect · Server/security

### 23. [Medium] Unrestricted CORS is enabled without a need shown by the current API

- **Files:** server.js:13-14
- **Issue:** cors() allows all origins. Only a public health GET route exists now, but future private API routes would inherit broad cross-origin access.
- **Why it matters:** Widened browser access surface if authenticated APIs are added without revisiting policy.
- **Recommended solution:** Remove CORS for same-origin hosting or allowlist trusted origins per route.
- **Classification:** Defect · Server/security

### 24. [Medium] Dashboard registers duplicate click handlers and overclaims status

- **Files:** Dashboard.js:113-157,193-203
- **Issue:** A first sidebar block and a second sidebar block attach handlers to repeated IDs. Startup log says Firebase and authentication are OK without checking those conditions.
- **Why it matters:** Navigation can trigger duplicate redirects; logs and UI present unverified system state as fact.
- **Recommended solution:** Consolidate route definitions and render state from actual auth/backend checks.
- **Classification:** Defect · Architecture

### 25. [Medium] Private app screens lack a consistent auth guard

- **Files:** Brain.html, Memory.html, Goals.html, Tasks.html, Voice.html, Vision.html, System.html, Settings.html and their UIs
- **Issue:** Only Chat, Dashboard and Profile scripts visibly subscribe to auth state. Remaining app areas are directly reachable as static pages.
- **Why it matters:** Any client-side screen restriction is inconsistent; local browser data/UI is not protected by a shared session policy.
- **Recommended solution:** Define which pages are public and enforce session authorization in a shared route boundary; server rules remain authoritative.
- **Classification:** Defect · Security

### 26. [Medium] No test, lint, build, or documented project server scripts

- **Files:** package.json; repository root
- **Issue:** package.json has dependencies only. There are no scripts, automated tests, lint/format config, CI workflow or setup guide in the original repository.
- **Why it matters:** Broken imports and dead controls reached the current branch without automated detection; setup relies on tribal knowledge.
- **Recommended solution:** Add reproducible start/check scripts, import/path checks and tests for auth-independent modules and mocked integrations.
- **Classification:** Defect · Operations

### 27. [Low] Historical BRAIN_AUDIT.txt is not an implementation inventory

- **Files:** BRAIN_AUDIT.txt
- **Issue:** This 89 KB file concatenates 40 labeled JavaScript module listings (including multiword names) but those module files do not exist in the source tree. It lacks a provenance/status map.
- **Why it matters:** The dump can be mistaken for active code and overstates the shipped architecture.
- **Recommended solution:** Label it archival, date/source it, and maintain a generated inventory that distinguishes present, removed and planned modules.
- **Classification:** Defect · Maintainability

### 28. [Low] Runtime relies on remote CDN assets and browser-loaded Firebase SDK

- **Files:** index.html and most page heads; Firebase.js:1-3
- **Issue:** Poppins, Font Awesome and Firebase SDK load from external hosts. No vendored/offline fallback or CSP is configured.
- **Why it matters:** Offline use and restrictive networks can break fonts, icons or authentication; requests disclose normal connection metadata to CDN providers.
- **Recommended solution:** Decide required offline behavior, pin/serve assets where appropriate, and document external requests/CSP policy.
- **Classification:** Defect · Dependencies

### 29. [Low] Task/goal metrics ignore dates and repeated completion can skew history

- **Files:** TasksUI.js:115-145; GoalsUI.js:123-163
- **Issue:** Today values count all records because no creation/completion date is modeled. Completion buttons remain available after completion, so repeated clicks can append duplicate history entries.
- **Why it matters:** Daily totals and event history can misrepresent actual progress.
- **Recommended solution:** Store completion timestamps, derive daily metrics from dates, and make completion transitions idempotent.
- **Classification:** Defect · Data handling

### 30. [Low] Profile editing is an alert placeholder

- **Files:** Profile.js:86-92
- **Issue:** Edit Profile displays a “next update” alert and does not update Firebase profile data.
- **Why it matters:** Visible action implies a capability that is unavailable.
- **Recommended solution:** Disable/remove the control until implemented or provide a clearly labeled unavailable state.
- **Classification:** Defect · User experience

### 31. [Low] Settings persistence silently depends on a missing Settings module

- **Files:** SettingsUI.js:1,189-219
- **Issue:** LocalStorage save/import logic exists, but SETTINGS is imported from absent Brain/Settings.js. A malformed stored JSON payload can also throw during startup.
- **Why it matters:** Settings handlers never run on this checkout; corrupt state has no recovery path.
- **Recommended solution:** Restore a validated settings store and catch/migrate invalid stored payloads.
- **Classification:** Defect · Data handling

### 32. [Low] Verification HTML contains a placeholder-style token

- **Files:** googleb121975d11cb3ed2.html
- **Issue:** The file is a short Google verification declaration. This audit did not validate ownership or whether the token matches a live Search Console property.
- **Why it matters:** Search verification may not work if this is stale or a placeholder.
- **Recommended solution:** Confirm out-of-band with the site owner and keep verification values out of public audit commentary.

### 33. [Medium] Profile Firestore read has no visible failure handling

- **Files:** Profile.js:7-42
- **Issue:** The auth callback awaits getDoc without a catch or user-facing error state. A denied request or network failure rejects the callback and leaves the profile page in its loading state.
- **Why it matters:** Users cannot tell whether their profile is missing, inaccessible, or temporarily unavailable; the browser may report an unhandled rejection.
- **Recommended solution:** Catch and classify profile-load errors, render a recoverable state, and keep sensitive diagnostics out of the UI.

## Planned capabilities: absent by design, not current defects

### Phone calling

No implementation exists; this is a roadmap capability. Future work requires platform permission, contact access, user confirmation, call-state support and platform/legal review.

### SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram

No providers or messaging routes exist. Future work requires explicit supported-provider selection, authorization, review-before-send and honest delivery receipts.

### Device and app control

No execution adapters or OS bridge exist. Future work needs least-privilege permissions and a Brain→proposal / permission gate→execution boundary.

### Cloud/local AI, web intelligence, NKS

No provider adapter, local inference runtime, search API, or NKS implementation exists. Future work must be configured and clearly state data flow, availability, cost and offline behavior.

### Android/desktop/hardware

Current project is static web pages plus a small Node server. Separate platform clients/bridges are future architecture, not current broken integrations.

## Repair roadmap
- **High — Protect data:** review deployed Firestore rules, enforce owner scoping, remove unsafe HTML insertion.
- **High — Restore module loading:** establish actual Brain module files/runtime; remove Python/JavaScript mismatch and unconditional APPROVED decisions; test imports.
- **High — Correct chat contract:** implement a configured same-origin provider route or make unavailability explicit; handle errors visibly.
- **High — Define persistence:** choose per-user storage for tasks/goals/memory/settings and validate safe import/export/deletion.
- **Medium — Truthful capability states:** remove invented telemetry/voice/vision results or label and isolate demos.
- **Medium — Repair paths and interactions:** fix casing/links/missing profile image, dead controls, duplicate settings IDs and navigation registrations.
- **Medium — Auth lifecycle and privacy:** recover partial registration, centralize page authorization and align notices with actual data flows.
- **Low — Release hygiene:** add tests, lint/import/path checks, setup scripts, public asset allowlist, CORS policy, and archive provenance.

Calling, WhatsApp/Telegram, device control, web intelligence, multi-platform clients, local models, hybrid provider selection, and NKS remain roadmap work and require explicit product/integration approval.

## Validation and limits
- Recursively inventoried all 59 project-owned non-dependency files and three non-root source/resource directories; checked page/asset/import references.
- Ran JavaScript syntax checks: `Brain.js` is the sole syntax failure because it is Python loaded as JS.
- Checked installed direct dependency versions and lockfile metadata; reviewed npm package tree, not vendored third-party implementation source.
- Reviewed current working tree and dated untracked server backup; no files in `~/NIKKI-HK` were changed.
- No Firebase account, deployed Firestore rules, live host, external provider, paid service, secret store, or device capability was contacted.
- This is a source-level audit of the checked-out branch, not a live penetration test or verification of another branch/deployment.
